🌿 The Threads We Only Notice Later

As I moved into a new season of life, I found myself reflecting on what had drawn me towards coaching.

For a long time, I thought the answer was straightforward.

It was when I completed my coaching training.

Bu the more I reflected, the more I realised it hadn't really begun there.

Looking back, coaching had been quietly present throughout much of my working life.

For more than three decades, I had the privilege of working with people from many different backgrounds, cultures and organisations across Asia-Pacific.

When I look back today, the moments that stay with me most aren't always the projects, the transformations or business outcomes.

They're the conversations.

A colleague trying to make a difficult decision.

A first-time leader wondering if they were ready.

Someone navigating uncertainty and simply needing the time and space to think.

Later, beyond the workplace, those conversations continued through mentoring, volunteering alongside young adults and supporting individuals rebuilding their lives after difficult circumstances .

Different people. Different stories.

Yet the conversations somehow felt familiar.

At the time, I never called those moments coaching.

Only later did I realise they had been quietly shaping the kind of coach I have come to be.

Perhaps that's why I've come to believe that coaching isn't about having all the answers.

It's about creating the kind of conversations where people feel heard, where they can think more clearly, and where they discover their own way forward.

That belief eventually became ACTS Professional Coaching.

As I begin sharing reflections here, my hope isn't simply to write about coaching.

It's to create a quiet space for conversations about leadership, growth, change and the different seasons of life we all experience.

If, from time to time, something you read here encourages you to pause and reflect on your own journey, then perhaps these reflections have served their purpose.

If this reflection has prompted y ou to pause and reflect on your own journey, I'd be happy to continue the conversation.

Pause

Looking back, what conversations have quietly shaped the person you are today?

Reflect

We often recognise the significance of certain moments only when we look back. Sometimes, the threads connecting our lives become visible only with time.

Act

Set aside a few quiet moments this week and think about the one conversation that has stayed with you over the years. What made it memorable, and how has it influenced the way you see yourself or others today?

🌿 Finding My Place as a Coach

One question stayed with me throughout my coaching training. Do I need to specialise? Or should I be a coach for anyone who comes through the door? It wasn't simply a question about coaching. It was
